I usually take Boots A-Z complete 50+ vitamins and minerals one a day. This provides 40 micrograms vitamin C which is 50% of the nutrient reference value (NRV).Then I read that taking more vitamin C to boost immunity during COVID-19 might be a good idea. So I take Boots vitamin C slow release 500 mgs (625%NRV) a couple of times a week. And yes I do know about fruit and vegetables!
Apparently there is some evidence that megadoses of vit C may be carcinogenic. Because vit C is water soluble, you might think it is hard to overdose if your kidneys are working normally.
You should know that I have shares in Boots plc
I take c 250 mg of Vit C daily....GP said it was a good idea to take a small dose plus small dose of B vits .So I am prob. taking a quarter to half of what i need in tablet form plus what I get in a mixed low meat diet. I would suggest do not over do it unless a blood test shows you are deficient .Then be advised by your GP.
Thank you. I have now ordered some 500 mg vitamin C. You’ll be pleased to know from Boots!
I take vitamin C slow release 1 x 1000mg daily. Instructions say I can take up to two x 1000 daily. I also Take vitamins B12, D3, zinc and magnesium glycinate.

I take at least 2000mg of Vit C a day in winter and increase that at the first sign of a cold or similar. The acid test — tried and tested and peer reviewed for decades — is to take it to bowel tolerance, a level that quickly increases if you’re mounting an immune defence and your body needs more Vit C. It’s a challenge to OD on it — subject to some pretty-existing conditions — as the body just expels any excess.
Vit C has been shown — again, peer-reviewed data — to work as both a very effective preventative and a treatment for Covid-19, especially when used alongside Vit D.
Eat fresh food, varied diet, plenty of vegetables.Vitamin D in winter, not to excess.
Interesting. Thanks for posting. I was interested in warfarin. I am always on the look out for potential interactions because I self test and self dose. I checked three drug-interactions sites. All were able to take the Vitamin C in the list. To my surprise all three of them flagged it. All said it was minor (less than food). It is a factor to investigate if warfarin resistance is encountered. Fine, I would seek medical help if my dose suddenly shot up. Two said that it decreases the effect of warfarin by opposing drug effects.
All that was news to me. I take around 10g per day of Sodium Ascorbate (the pH neutral kind) which I take as 2g doses five times a day. If I do not, then I notice within a day or so through significant increases in green lungs mucus. But I have not needed to change my warfarin dose. So, good to know that it may affect the warfarin, but not necessarily.
Thank you
