Acute Kidney Injury

My Dad had 5 short sessions of focus radiation to L2 and T8-T9 2 weeks ago and before that he switched Lupron shots to Orgovyx as our understanding was that has less side effects. Right after radiation he got bronchitis and was put in 2 antibiotics. Last Friday he ended up in ER and admitted to the hospital with acute kidney injury. He never had any problems with his kidneys, the blood test right before radiation showed normal BUN and Creatine and >60 EGFR. What could be the cause: the radiation, Orgovyx or Antibiotics? Doctors don’t have an answer. Is anyone dealing with kidney injury, what was the cause, is there anything that could help decrease the creatinine? The creatinine is 2.1 and EGFR is 30. Will these recover in time? What would help? He has no problems urinating and urine is clear except high creatine. Please let me know. I am very worried about him. Thank you so much.

Antibiotics can cause kidney injury. Also the bronchitis, particularly if it progressed to pneumonia can stress the kidneys. Plus if he got dehydrated. So a number of possibilities which you need to discuss with his doctor.

I was on Lupron for 2 years. I was 82 and decided to have an orchiectomy. I have heat flashes, that was expected, but I don’t have to get injections every 3 or 6 months. I am doing well and still have PSA <0.1

Hopefully when he sees the doctors......... one of them is a true blue Urologist...
