diagnosed with metastatic pc in Dec 2017 Gleason 8 psa 199. Commenced abiraterone 1000 mg & prednisone 10mg . Also zoladex implants every 3 months in Feb 2018. Pas down to 0.01 after 3 months. In 2022 I reduced dosage of abiraterone & prednisone by half due to the excessive cost of abiraterone (was self funding) and also strong fatigue side effects. No change in blood tests etc psa remains at 0.01 to date. After last zoladex implant a couple of months ago when I received extreme bruising and felt weird! A few weeks later I noticed renewal of body hair growth, testicle growth and urination changes. Was concerned that implant hadn’t worked. Reported to oncologist and had a testosterone blood test which was low 0.05. Have appointment with Oncologist to see if he knows the cause of this and was wondering if anyone else on here had experienced similar symptoms?

I would say don't trust PSA as gospel. I've been on injected Eligard, 6 month dose, daily 1000 mg Abiraterone and 5 mg prednisone for 3-1/2 years. I experience fatigue, loss of motivation, loss of body hair etc. My high Gleason scores were two 9s and three 8s. My PSA of 40 dropped like a rock and was eventually undetectable for a while. During this time I got a PSMA PET scan which showed activity. My doctor and 2 radiation oncologists said leave it be for a while. When the PSA creeped up to 0.2, I got another PSMA PET scan and it showed more activity in a few areas than the first one. For the last 3 weeks I've been at Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN, getting Photon radiation to my groin area, SBRT to two places on my spine and SBRT on the Clivus bone in my head. The doc here says we have 95% chance of eradicating the cancer in each area. Of course I have 4 areas, so statistically speaking I have 0.95^4 or 81% chance of eradicating it everywhere. I have another 8 treatments to go. I would say these guys seem to know what they are doing. If you haven't had a PSMA PET scan get one. In my case I should have gotten one every year. It shows what's shrinking and what's growing. The doctors want the hormone therapy to reduce the places they need to treat. In my case it worked up to a point.
