PSA Dropped after 22 days of Zytiga

On Nov 1, my cancer was diagnosed as castrate resistant. Abiraterone and Prednisone was added to Lupron. On November 3 I had a Lupron shot and started Abiraterone and Prednisone on November 10. Today I had a PSA test. My PSA dropped from 0.8 on November 1 to 0.44 today. I was not expecting such dramatic fall in PSA after only 22 days of Abiraterone . I will have another PSA test on January 4. Should I expect further fall in PSA?

That's the kind of result we all dream of, excellent news. There's no reason to think that it won't continue to fall again or again after that.

Wishing you all the best and a good Christmas 🎄 😊

Congrats! I hope the great response continues for you!My husband has been on lupron, zytiga plus prednisone for 5.5 years after he finished his first treatment after diagnosis (Gleason 9 nets to several bones). 1st treatment was lupron and 6 rounds chemo. His PSA still continues a slow downward trend from over 677 to start to 0.5 as of yesterday. It took almost 6 years to get below 1- and despite a few small upticks once in a while it keeps going down. His side effects (besides usual ADT ED) are a bit more fatigue and hot flashes (most hot flashes were in the beginning of treatment- they've really almost disappeared). He keeps busy working, working out and keeping up with our kids- now in their 20s.

mine dropped from 19.4 to 4.69 in 25 days and then to 2.7 after another month. That was Nov. 8. Next test Jan. 11. I am on low dose with food. I am also taking 5 mg prednisone instead of 10 mg daily. From my research I have found that a 50% drop in the first month is a good indicator. Best of luck, God bless.

Mine went from 49 (or more if it was rising before getting on meds 2 weeks after measurement) to 8.3 in about 2 weeks and to < 1 in about 2 months (total). Started with 10mg pred, dropped to 5mg few months later and have been stable undetectable (<0.02) PSA since (last 5 months).
