Update on Treatment

In June 2023, a routine PSA test value turned out to be 4.6, did an MRI; Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, Gleason Score 7 (3+4), biopsy said one core. (Details in my profile).

Opted for Active Surveillance.

But in Oct 2023, PSA level went to 6.1 and in Jan 2024 PSA went to 9.2

In March 2024, did another MRI - showed more lesions; did biopsy; Gleason score 7 (4+3), multiple cores, RSV invasion.

Did PSMA-PET scan; CT Scan and Bone Scan. No metastasis.

Put on ADT in March 2024 - Orgovyx, Abiraterone and Prednisone in preparation for Radiation.

Radiation started in June 2024.

Completed 3 sessions of Cyber knife (prostate) and 17 of 21 sessions of IMRT (whole Pelvic to deal with RSV and with any micro invasion of lymph nodes). (Should complete this week).

Flomax was added to deal with any potential urinary flow issues due to radiation.

PSA level, after ADT started, has gone down from 9.2 to .02 (Ultrasensitive PSA).

No side effects thus far (apart from hot flashes).

Waiting game starts. ADT will continue for 2 years. Doc says 40% chance of recurrence.

Will keep the group updated on any side effects and future developments.

Also see if you can get genetics done on the biopsy before sample degrades. About 5 years. Anyone else in family with bresst or prostate cancer?

Also stay vigilant

Thanks. No incidence of cancer in the family. Did the genetic test: result stated 30% chance of further cancerous growth.

my condition is similar although I have Mets in localized LNs. Currently taking Orgovyx—nothing else. Awaiting Barrigel procedure and start of IGRT last week of July. My RO says she can “cure” me. I’m more realistic. PSA has dropped from 16.5 to .71 since starting ADT 5 mos ago. So far your SEs from the RT sound tolerable. Hoping for the same. Good luck and looking forward to future posts on your condition.

Thank you. Glad to read that your RO is positive that you will be cured. I had to go on a low fiber diet prior to the start of the treatment. Here is an interesting study on the combination therapy (Radiation+ADT).
