I am currently at the CRPC stage of my disease. About 7 years since diagnosis. Started with ADT and Docetaxel. Was able to be castrate sensitive for 4.5 years. Tried to add Abiraterone and it failed after a couple of months. Had Radium 223 and it was okay but did nothing to the PSA. Cancer kept progressing and had to get targeted radiation to painful spots on ribs. Started chemotherapy again and had 7 cycles of Docetaxel then switched over to cabazitaxel for 2 cycles so far. They want me to do 10 cycles or until it fails. I recently went to BC cancer in Vancouver to try and get on a trial for Lu177 and they told me they were none available. I asked them when they thought the Government would approve Lu177 as SOC and they said maybe in the fall or next year. I asked if they had any other trials coming up that I could enrol in. There might be some trials coming up in a few months. One trial that I am interested in is the Actium 225. This sounds promising and gives me something to look forward. The alternative is pain meds and death. This is a crazy disease how it mutates and becomes resistant to all the treatments you throw at it. I am fortunate to have the cancer only in my bones. I am only 59 years old and have been living like I don’t have the disease. I am still working and have one teenager still at home.
Thanks for listening and I appreciate all the support on this site.

Prayers for this trial to turn everything back to positive , your story and life is amazing and gives me hope for my husband and me to have many good years together. Have the best day today . Bless you
lu177. (Pluvicto) was approved by Health Canada in 2022 for men in your situation. Unfortunately, I don’t believe any province funds it. It is available at approximately $25,000 per injection. We are also watching for the Actinium trial in Ontario.
May I ask why you switched to Cab from Doc after 7 infusions? Had Doc stopped working? We have just completed 7th Doc. PSA holding steady.
Docetaxel was working lowering PSA for the first 4 cycles then PSA started doubling back up. This is when they decided to switch to Cabazitaxel. I already did 7 cycles of Docetaxel and now they want me to do 10 cycles of cabazitaxel, Not sure how I am going to tolerate that much chemotherapy.
Best of luck going forward. We all have come so far, yet the constant uncertainty remains. I never stress about it, unless all this forum- reading is a substitute, but it is always like a rain cloud over my head. Hang in there!
