Lupron unjection not reducing PSA

I was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2016. It has been contained in the prostate ever since. For 3 years I treated myself with vitamins and nutrients. Kept my psa down until I had a kidney stone operation and for some odd ball reason loss control of the psa after the operation, it shot up to 103, thats when I was put on casadex. Casadex dropped the psa to 5. After 3 years the psa started rising again. I was then put on Orgovyx, that did not stop psa from rising. I was then put on monthly injections of lupron, the psa was 25. Lupron dropped the psa to 10. I have been on lupron for 4 monthly injections. My PSA keeps rising, last psa test was 28 last month, guess I'm castrate resistant now. Doc wants to put me on nebaqu ( think it is spelled that way) anyway I am very hesitant to take it due to causing heart attacks and blood vessal problems. I have an abdominal Anerysm now and do not trust taking that med. Since the lupron is not working what should I tell doc I would like to try to reduce psa. I have read about different meds that were being taken with lupron to reduce psa. I'm getting ready to discuss. Proton Beam Therapy which I will do as soon as approved. The cancer is still contained in my prostate according to last Pet Scan last month. No I will not have it removed knowing what I know about recurrance. I tried Orgovyx after casadex started rising psa, was on casadex for 3 years about, until psa stated rising, then was put on Orgovyx, Orgovyx did not stop psa from rising so Doc put me on monthly lupron injections, then lupron has stopped working to reduce psa. What is my next step?

I have read many stories on here about different treatments that worked for awhile. Thanks for all the great discussions so far. Hopenthisnall makes sense, brain fog on this lupron is very disturbing.

Lupron stopped working for me after 12 years on/off. However in combination with Erleada my PSA has been <.4 for 5 years. Somehow the combination of Lupron and Erleada works for me.

Since the cancer is still contained in the prostate, radiation seems like a good path forward and protons of course are preferred.

if it is contained within the prostate you have a chance for cure with radiation. Every day you wait the cancer may be leaving the prostate. As someone whose cancer that has already spread outside the ptrstate I beg you to reconsider. I had radiation therapy and it is not that bad. . Honestly dying from prostate cancer is not much fun. I would take a heart attack over a prolonged and painful death from prostate cancer,. BTW your abdominal aneurysm should not be an issue here. Also I believe the Lupron and other testosterone blockers you have been on also increase the risk of heart attack.

Firmagon injections are working great for my husband at dropping his PSA. I agree with grandpa4. Don’t wait too long for the radiation. You may have a hard time getting proton beam approved. Most insurances fight tooth and nail to deny because of the cost.

If the OP is on Medicare proton beam is usually covered.

I definitely know the answer to this but they'll kick me off of Here as they do anyone who mentions it ,despite saving my CRPC. At 77 you need to focus on quality of life as I have and not be misled with some of the life quality robbing treatments. I myself was told I would die in 18 months and now it's 9 years later. Educate yourself further and you'll control this.

CPRMan- Interesting! But , Your case seems to be an outlier. Can you tell us more about your condition? Was your cancer initially diagnosed as metastatic or was it contained within the prostate? And, what was your Gleason score? Lastly- did you get a second opinion regarding your 18 month life expectancy (sounds like perhaps whoever told you that MAY have been an alarmist)?

Thank you - Much appreciated
