PSA raise

Hello once again. My father completed 6 courses of docetaxel chemotherapy (last one on 23/05/2023) and he is getting Zoladex injections every 3 months. Last PSA result was 0.89 (14/07/2023). But as he was getting better and the effects of chemotherapy (mainly neuropathy) were subsiding, the PSA test which was done yesterday showed that it has increased and is 2.31. We will repeat the PSA test again in 1 month. Also, I was thinking of checking his testosterone levels since we haven't done it before. I know that things will be clearer when we do the PSA test in 1 month, but I am nervous if he already developed hormone resistance.

He should add Zytiga or Xtandi to the Zoladex. If there are bone mets, Zoladex is not effective enough.

Thanks for the comment. I think the oncologist will add second-line hormone therapy if the PSA test 1 month later will show that PSA is still rising.

It does not depend on the PSA value. Studies show that patients as your father live longer when you combine Zoladex with a new hormonal agent.
