When do hot flashes end once ADT is suspended?

I was on ADT (Eligard) quarterly injections from January 2021 to November 2022 (two years).

I am still experiencing the side effects of frequent hot flashes, low energy levels, weight gain, etc.

I would just like to know when I might expect the hormones to have been "flushed-out" of my system and my body resumes producing testosterone with, hopefully, increased energy, weight loss, hair regrowth.

Background:

I was born in November of 1950.

November 2011 (61 years old) diagnosed with prostate cancer (Gleason 3+3, later 3+4) based on needle biopsies.

Scheduled for RALP January 2012 but developed blood clots (DVT and PE) so put on active surveillance (PSA under 5) and warfarin.

January 2021 my PSA, which had been slowly rising, spiked at 11.2 and DRE produced pain upon digital contact with large tumor at base of prostate.

Bone scan showed metastatic PCa in sternum, ribs, and sacro-illiac.

Began ADT and underwent SBRT (cyberknife) at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, with 15 sessions (April and May 2021).

PSA undetectable since treatment.

November 2022 (72 years old) was my last injection of Eligard.

I stopped 26 months of ADT in April 2022 and I still get them, although very infrequently now. They’ve been more of a fading away than a light switch off.

I felt the urge to get up and pee several times a night. My Dr prescribed 5mg Oxybutynin twice a day. He also said my hot flashes might disappear too. They did the first day I started the medicine. My sleep improved a good deal too,

What is your testosterone now?

When your testosterone recovers. The time to normal values is very variable and it could take months.

This link has some info about testosterone recovery after stopping ADT

It takes me 4-8 months for my T level to recover. At my 4 month checkup after stopping ADT my T level hasn’t risen at all. At 8 months it’s back to normal. The hot flashes start slowly decreasing after about 3 months I think.

many thanks to all who responded. I'm doing my best to be a patient patient, trusting at some point my testosterone factory will resume production and hot flashes will end.
