86-year-old, Dx with advanced prostate cancer in 2018, done, Zytiga with prednisone, EBRT, Xtandi, Earlida, Nubequa and Docetaxel chemo up to 4th done, then, had to stopped because psa continue rising from 1420 from 845 in a 4weeks. Akl Phos also climb up to 1194 from 706 in 4wks.

His bone pain become worse and terribly tired, and no appetite. His health declines every day and now may not be able to walk by himself in matter of 1 or 2 days because of pain and weakness in legs. Xofigo seems not helping at all and what to do. See RO in a week.

Thank you in advance

Sorry to hear about his worsening condition and experienced side effects. Age is definitely a factor as to the effectiveness of treatments. At this point it becomes how well his body can handle their side effects. Make use of palliative care to deal with pain.

I am 79 and was diagnosed in december 2018 when my PSA was 176. Since then i have taken Casodex, Zytiga, Enzalutamide ,20 shots of radiation, two courses of Docetaxel, in one course the Docetaxel was combined with carboplatin. My PSA nadir was 2.05. But now my PSA is raging ( increase from 48 to 316 in five weeks).

My guts are in terrible shape from being carpet bombed by meds over the years and I have painful inflammation in my abdomen.

At this point I am giving up on meds, trying to repair my gut and exploring palliative care and voluntary cessation of eating and drinking.

It is a difficult decision, but most likely a wise one. Best of luck for a more comfortable life.
