86-year-old advanced prostate cancer with dx 2018, while doing EBRT in 2020, developed Maxillary Osteonecorsis of the jaw that has been taking care with antibiotic and chlorohexidine. How long antibiotics could use? Life time? Discontinued after full 2 years. It's his 4th Chemo of Docetaxel is due in a few days. Does Chemo contribute ONJ worse?Should Chemo to continue or stop for the sake of ONJ? What's usual routine?3rd chemo's result of the PSA has continued risen from July 337.30 to Aug 530.1 Though his general health seems improved, managing walking 50 minutes every morning except fatigue and sleepy. Used zytiga, xtandi, erlida, and nubeqa and all developed resistant and started Chemo, Docetaxel last July and continue Lupron and Xgeva.Any advice is really appreciated. Thank you immensely.

I wish I could give you advice, but I have Osteo in the lower jaw and had it since 4/2022. Xgeva is the culprit, and it will be a while before it leaves the system. Another HU member says it has taken him 2 1/2 yrs for the healing process. Use good oral hygiene and in my case, I'm going to wait it out and avoid surgery. I'm 78. Good luck.

A chemo does not cause osteonecrosis of the jaw. This is caused by Xgeva or other bisphosphonates. One should see a dentist and get a thorough cleaning before using these.

Hello and Good Thoughts for you.

I was on Lupron for 2 years.

It made me really tired but I forced myself to go to thr gym at least 4 days a week. It really did help, like I am sure your walking program will help you.

The Hot Flashes drove me crazy until I bought a small fan and carried it with me. Really helped

While watching tv and sleeping.

Kinda got used to it.

Good luck with your Lupron journey.
