ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE NUMBER HIGHER

Can Docetaxel chemo treatments cause the alkaline phosphatase number to rise? One month my husbands PSA rose and they said it was the cancer cells dying off.... and it went back down to 3.03. But this is the first time his Alkaline Phosphatase number has risen.

Alkaline Phosphatase rose 80 points to 544 from 464. It was 3,753 in July 2022. (Should be between 35-144.)

Still waiting for latest PSA test result. Thanks in advance for your response!! ❤️

Alkaline phosphatase is not specific for bone lesions. It could also increase if there are problems with the liver. Docetaxel is hepatotoxic

You could request bone specific alkaline phosphatase and see if it is elevated and what happens with subsequent infusions.

His liver numbers are all good so it's confusing to me. Thanks for responding!!!

Better to check with imaging.

My ALP has occasional gone up or down by a good amount in a month without explanation, like a change in treatment. (It was over 1000 last year, as low as 200 this year, but a few bumps). I think it could mean various things, good or bad, but I would not worry unless there is an actual trend over 3-4 readings.

Like PSA, it can "bounce" when cancer cells die.

It's hard to know. My ALP is around 220 but was double that on first diagnosis. I think my Oncologist is happy as along as it remains stable.

I had six cycles of Docetaxel and mine went down. It was always within the reference range but went down about 20 units over the course of my treatment. (I have one small bone met and nothing on my liver.)

I'm happy you are done with your Docetaxel. I assume you are still on the darolutimide like my husband. He also gets 6 month Lupron shots. Glad your numbers are within the range! I sincerely wish all your numbers will be good for MANY years to come! You are way too young to be dealing with this! ((HUGS))

Mine went over 400 while ALT went to 1235 and AST to 528 during my chemo...Not sure why, but best guess was I developed a DVT during chemo and my MO prescribed the wrong blood thinner. I needed a 3 month hiatus for my liver went back to normal levels...was quite scary as I turned yellow from jaundice during this time....so I can most definitely see this happening to your husband.
