I have been waking up in the morning with intense lower leg cramps. I am thinking this could be from the Firmagon or the chemo treatments. Anyone experience this? If so is there a supplement to help with this?

I'm going to follow this post. My husband is on firmagon and he's started to get leg cramps, I wasn't aware it was a side effect
I have to take 2 of these at night & 2 in the morning (for the acetic acid) to avoid nocturnal leg cramps.

Magnesium is important too, but I was already taking that.

I'm taking a basic multi-vitamin and that seems to provide enough magnesium, potassium or whatever else I need to take care of the cramps. If I don't take it though, it becomes a problem for me.
Here's something else I found online:
Several vitamin deficiency states may directly or indirectly lead to muscle cramps. These include deficiencies of thiamine (B1), pantothenic acid (B5), and pyridoxine (B6). The precise role of deficiency of these vitamins in causing cramps is unknown.
Hydration and electrolytes can help. He has to balance fluid intake at night with getting up to pee often. My friend uses a magnesium transdermal cream on his legs at night to avoid taking magnesium orally (which can have a laxative effect).
I have been taking Leg Cramp by hylands. My doctor also prescribed mirapex.
Magnesium Pidolate drink mix has changed my life, no more morning cramps. However this is kind of a product we can find in Europe (Magnesona in Spain and Portugal) but not in USA. However, there is a similar product in Canada, MAGDOLATE, made by Seaford Pharmaceuticals, that you may try. Contact Seaford in Canada to discover how to get Magdolate.
Although I’m not on any PC meds, I get severe leg cramps when I have failed to drink enough water. The best immediate relief I’ve found is to drink pickle juice. It probably helps balance my electrolytes. Then I focus on drinking plenty of water that day and the cramps stay gone until the next time I’ve failed to drink enough water. Also, if I drink too much diet come the aspertain in it gives me cramps. Good luck dealing with this problem.
I’ve heard of ye ol pickle juice ? Simple fix
I had severe leg cramps and tried several different OTC meds but none worked until I came across "Cramp Defense". No more leg cramps - ever! It is a form of magnesium that doesn't cause diarrhea.

A new study finally proves the amazing cramp preventing properties of the deliciously salty mixture.

Hey j-o-h-n!
I read that Vlasic juice was used. You don't need a whole glass my friend. Supposed to be superior to the sports drinks.

Use your thumb and index fingers to squeeze in between the philtrum area of your upper lip. That will stop any cramps immediately.
Potassium / magnesium - eating a banana regularly helps - I had the same problem(s) during ADT - supplement as needed (not too much) - take in the evening about 1 1/2 hours before bedtime.
Don't do the 'cheap' magnesium - go for the good stuff - at least a complex or targeted quality.
I stopped ADT, but continue with my own recommendations - no more cramps ....
Had Charlie Horse in calves for about a wk. Came on suddenly. Disappeared just as quickly. Oh, the joys of ADT.
Drank more H2O but not sure that had any effect at all... other than peeing more. Sigh.

Best remedy is not a pill/supplement/etc. but daily stretching of the Achilles tendons. footsurgeon.com.au/pdf/stre...
Doubtful. Have you discussed with your cardiologist? Sounds like a lack of water and electrolytes. I experienced throughout my life...... Hormone therapy and chemotherapy had nothing to do with this. At 73, and ten years post hormone therapy and 16 years post chemotherapy, I get whenever I travel, work outdoors and do not drink enough water....... quick fix fir me is Gatorade....

One other thing to consider is good ol Gateraide. I drink at least half a bottle every morning. That, plus 30 seconds of stretching the major muscle groups of the legs every morning have really reduced my leg cramps. (I’m on Lupron).
Thanks everyone for your input.
I used to get horrible leg cramps. I dreaded them. You could only walk them out. Only thing that has changed lately is the 100 plus degree heat. So I'm doing a lot of sweating and increase of salt. Pickle spears a couple of times a week, sometimes Claussen, when I close my eyes and don't look at the price, is a nice way of getting some vinegar in your system. Just avoid baking soda for a while.
Hello

Quinine pills will bring swift relief. They used to be available OTC but now you will need an RX.
