I meet with my oncologist on Monday and he has suggested I consider a clinical trial with ATR Inhibitors. The one that I see on clinicaltrials.gov is the TRAP Trial, which is Olaparib for 28 days and 7 days of AZD6738. Does anyone know anything about this one? I have ATM Mutation and am facing either a trial or carboplatin. Thoughts?

TRAP Trial
I’m no expert and can’t tell you what’s best for you . I do say go for a trial . I’ve been on one successfully over five years now .
Well, your ATM mutation, if you had it on both copies of your genes, is what is simulated by the AZD6738 and the olaparib only works when that kind of gene repair deficiency is simulated or actual (as with BRCA mutations). Carboplatin works well in cases where PARP inhibitors work well too - they seem to be complementary. Does carboplatin preclude the trial? If not, you can do 6 cycles of carboplatin and follow it 15 weeks later with the trial - is that a possibility?
Well, just a quick update. My doctor thinks it’s too early to try either chemo or a trial as my PSA is still low as is my cancer volume. He thinks it might be a year or more before we need to take that path. In the meantime, we are going to begin immunotherapy with Provenge. My oncologist is Dr. Charles Ryan at the University of Minnesota, so I trust that he knows what he is talking about.
