Clinical trial

I really could use some advice please and thank you. My husband has been approved for a clinical trial at Cornell. The project number is 20-08022486. It would involve quite a bit of travel which we will do if need be. Another concern is the trial start date is mid Dec. He was suppose to start his chemo tomorrow the new one seen as though the Docetaxel failed. Now our concern is he will not be able to start the chemo if we go with the trial which means he will be on no treatment for a month. His cancer will spread. He is already having pain. Any suggestions or advice. This clinical trial is very similar to Lu 177 it’s at a lower dose and they add Actinium to it. I believe that’s the spelling. We feel such a loss knowing there is no in between treatment.

I understand your concern. I was looking at a 10 week wait for Lu PSMA Early Access, with concern that the cancer would grow in the meantime. I got lucky and got an earlier start date.

What had given me comfort with the long wait was my PSA had stopped rising for three tests in a row. How quickly is his PSA rising?

How are you doing? Is the treatment helping.

I had the first treatment a week ago Friday. I’m waiting for the blood tests after thanksgiving. Clinically I’m doing much better. I had pain, which I attribute to inflammation from cell death, for the first four days. Pain nearly gone after that, and fatigue is finally better.

It seems to be working for me.

Is recent docetaxel chemo an exclusion for the trial,, or will they allow him to have a single cycle while waiting. Some chemo should not affect the effectiveness of the trial. But they may not want the extra factor affecting PSMA expression. You need to talk with the trial coordinator.
