daytime nausea

Hello - had SRT that ended 10/31/17 --- PSA low, but not low enough at .38... For the past 2 / 3 months have experienced daytime nausea - no vomiting, blood, etc. Appitite is still good. My question - could the IMRT be causing this or the lupron I took for a year?

Did they treat your pelvic lymph nodes? Did you discuss with your PCP?

ken12491 profile image
ken12491 in reply toTall_Allen

yes, they were treated ( 25 hits to the pelvic area ) and then 15 hits to the bed. I told my PCP and he scripted ondansetron but that med gave me really bad constipation --- now, he wants me to try --- Compazine..... read about it and some scary stuff from other users, am reluctant but might try it...I read somewhere that radiation can impact you years later and wondering is that what is happening to me -- horrible experience. txs

It's unusual for an entirely new ailment to crop up years later. But the real question is what to do about it now. My father used compazine, which did a good job for him. I sometimes chew on slices of raw ginger root when I am hungover, and keep bottles of ginger beer around anyway as a mixer.

thanks --- I guess, I ll give the new med a try as well as the ginger roots... horrible and so odd, daytime only - that lead my PCP to thing anxiety, the PSA cloud over my head and I certainly do see and feel that cloud.. but we all do I guess...

I tried to figure out if I was doing something different and found nothing....

Perhaps something environmental - ie new cleaning products or laundry detergent? My husband became very sensitive to scents in cleaning products after starting chemo so we switched to unscented everything. If it’s light nausea - he uses aromatherapy essential oils like peppermint and ginger.

Hi Ken,

It is doubtful that it would be related to the Lupron...there are a number of things that can cause nausea....someone mentioned smells...possibility.....it could be related to anxiety--your PSA test ....some of the antianxiety drugs like Ativan or valium could help that....or increased stomach acidity--stress-----for stomach acidity, you could try OTC--Zantac or Prilosec.....or try Compazine or Phenergan which are indicated for nausea.... you mentioned constipation with Zofran.....Is constipation a real problem for you.?? If so, the concern I have is bowel adhesions secondary to the radiation. If that is the case, you will need to talk with your RO and he can order testing....Good luck....

Thanks -- never had a constipation issue in my life even going thru SRT --- just after I took ondansetron and WOW it was bad!!!! - decided I'll try the raw ginger TA suggested as well as the new med, Compazine. Read some scary reviews on Compazine but gotta try something --- thank you all - other ideas are welcomed as well. Bad enough having the horrible disease, but the stomach thing only makes it worst.

I take Papaya in the morning and it works good for constipation + a little Milk of Magnesia. I sometimes have nausea and I think it is because I had a lot of radiation in my past, and perhaps some of it can be blamed on a low red count. I take Zofran sometimes.

Not sure where you live, but your post made me remember that there is a papaya from Mexico salmonella outbreak in the Northeast US right now.

I had a rash and tried to eliminate it by changing laundry soap and etc. The worst of it just finally went away. Friction of clothes on legs still brings some of it back. So changing things did nothing. Doc said none of my drugs could cause rash. Side effects on ALL of them said if rash develops contact doctor. Go figure. Make sure you don't have an ulcer. Best of luck. I am still trying to picture Tall_Allen with a hangover. Enjoy as best you can.

Great video with the song. Unless you are on ADT. Decided not to let granddaughter's best friend interpret. She is only 12 years old and not sure if she speaks the language. We are going shopping in a few. She certainly understands that language.

Marathi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken predominantly by around 83 million Marathi people of Maharashtra, India. It is the official language and co-official language in the Maharashtra and Goa states of Western India, respectively, and is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. At 83 million speakers in 2011, Marathi ranks 19th in the list of most spoken languages in the world. Marathi has the third largest number of native speakers in India, after Hindi and Bengali.[9] The language has some of the oldest literature of all modern Indian languages, dating back to around 900 AD. The major dialects of Marathi are Standard Marathi and the Varhadi dialect. Koli and Malvani Konkani have been heavily influenced by Marathi varieties.

My guess is that he probably can also speak in Hindi....

We are just departing to buy cosmetics. I did not want to step on my foot and ask her about languages. Savitri was a solid thumbs up when I suggested Carl's Jr.

You might try Protonix, it will block some of the acid in the stomach. I am on lupron and zytiga plus other meds and I have not had a nausea problem. My cardio doc put me on protonix years ago to prevent nausea from other meds. I take 40 mg every morning.

I’m on Lupron - Xtandi - Zometa for seven months and I experience light to med nausea quiet frequently. Dunno where you live but if you have access you could try cannabis cookies and / or an affordable disposable cart vape for quick results. For a lot of people, cannabis is extremely effective with banishing nausea and if you aren’t eating well, it pill perk up your appetite as a bonus. You’d want a sativa strain for active daytime use. Try a couple different strains to make sure it’s a sativa ( doesn’t send you to the couch for sleep ). Moderation is key if you are out and about. Cookies can take a hour and a half to take effect but probably last for 5 - 6 hours after it takes effect. One of those vape pens hits quickly and wears off fairly quickly as well ( depending upon how hard you hit it ).
