My husband has stage 4 CRPC and has a fib so he cannot drink caffeinated coffee so how does he stay awake during the day? This is especially embarrassing during church. Any suggestions that have worked for others are appreciated.

What Helps You Stay Awake During Daytime
I have found I can tolerate moser caffeine intake ( iced coffee in AM and a couple of caffeinated sodas) with my PCA and Afib. I have had an ablation and I am on Multaq which has done a great job controlling my Afib. Not a recommendation just what I do.
Exercise. Anything at all is vastly better than nothing.
is there another type stimulant that would be ok?
My DH drinks some caffeine and still naps during the day. A lot. And in church. But many people have trouble staying awake during church! Do most of your parishioners know about your husband’s illness? Nothing to be embarrassed about.
Ask dr. For low dose rittalin its an accepted ( by the smrt drs.).... for cancer trtmnt fatigue...
My husband has found that working out really helps with fatigue. 💙
Some MO’s will prescribe Ritalin or Adderol for their patients to alleviate fatigue caused by treatments and improve QOL.

I've been taking Provigil for about 2 years. It helps with focus, concentration, and alertness. Ask your oncologist about it.
I have Stage 4 PC, A-fib and I am on Zytiga. I also have sinus issues that prevent me from sleeping in 90 minute intervals. I keep active during the day and I drink 2-3 cup regular coffee each day without any significant stimulation to the A-fib.
I take sulbutiamine
Hopefully, some of the advice here will prove helpful, but on another note: For years, I belonged to a church choir that sat at the front of the congregation. I assure you that your husband is not the only one who falls asleep in church.
Don’t fight it. Your body is telling you to get rest so get it. That’s what I do. I just forewarn folks that I may nod off and it’s not them. LOL
I suggest CoQ10, magnesium, L-Arginine and Taurine for the a-fib and heart health in general. Just some supplements that could lessen frequency of occurences. Has he been sleep tested? Being that sleepy suggests a real sleep problem like sleep apnea. My heart surgeon had me tested prior to a-fib ablation surgery. It turns out that I had sleep apnea, probably for decades, that I was unaware of. Complaints of fatigue to my PCP fell on deaf ears -- he never sent me for a sleep study. BTW, my heart surgeon (electrophysiologist to be more precise) said that after the ablation surgery sleep apnea could cause the a-fib to return.
