As part of my participation with the SIMCAP trial at CINJ, I had my robotic prostatectomy on Nov 14 after having been on ADT for the past 4 months. Continuing on ADT ( Zytiga, Prednisone, Eligard, Xgeva ) post surgery.
Catheter removed on Nov 21, one day before Thanksgiving. Getting used to dealing with incontinence. Not too bad. Getting better every day, slowly but surely. Had some leaking from one of the incision sites for several days, which surgeon said is normal. Can't exercise, except walking, or lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for 4 weeks post surgery.
Pathology report showed 2 out of 27 removed lymph nodes involved. Removed seminal vesicle also had invasion. Prostate weighed 62 grams. Clear margins. Pathologic stage classification pT3b and pN1. Gleason pattern can not be assessed due to treatment effect.
5 days after surgery PSA went from 0.13 to 0.15; was told this is not at all unusual. Having updated PSA test today, 2 weeks after surgery, and meeting with MO next Tuesday.
Onward and upward!

Robotic Prostatectomy on November 12th. 100 years and 1 day after WW1 ended. I am not likely to forget this date. Still not had my Catheter out (too much blood in urine) or got my histology results yet. I am only on ADT. My Gleason score was revised down from 9 to 8 by the hospital that did the prostatectomy by reexamination of the biopsy results
V day.. mine was 9-1-16 , the day I chopped the boys.. a day that last in infamy.. Get that cath out.. that will be a great day.. soon come...Take care and speedy recovery.
Did my RP in April 2018. After a week the catheter came out. I started discharging 700g a day, and by the end of 3 months it was 10g a day. Now almost zero. Hang in there, it does go away with time. But it’s not a straight line. I had weeks that my discharge was higher and the following week would drop back substantially.
Sounds like you are doing great! I am 57 and had my prostate removed in July. Amazing the technology now - I’m having very few issues. You just have to tough out the first 6-weeks getting used to your ‘new normal.’
I don't know how your trial works, but hopefully you can stay on ADT for the next several months to allow for return of continence before starting salvage radiation.
Will be staying on ADT as part of the trial. Don't expect to have salvage radiation as I am BRCA2 positive.
You are a breath of fresh air...clean margins..fantastic..I think that you got all of the bastard out..I expect great results for you.. I didn’t gave rp still have my prostate, but I do know that with time you’re going to be OK.. I’m not saying that it’s easy , but you’ve scored hopefully a knockout with your first round. You’re going to be around for a long time ..Even though you might feel like sh@@ now. I believe it’ll all get better.. Happy Holidays and thanks for this wonderful news.. Scott
