Stuffy nose, no. Runny nose yes. Bloody nose, a lot in the first 2 weeks after infusion. In addition to runny nose, my eyes were constantly watering.
Thank you Gregg 57- interesting & helpful. My eyes tend to water as well. When I get a bloody nose it’s usually due to low playlet counts as my blood levels erode after chemo.
My eye watering got worse with each cycle. I asked my doctor about about it near the end of the treatment and he said if it's happening all the time as in 100% of the time, then I would need to stop chemotherapy to avoid damage to the tear ducts.
Sorry to hear you may need to stop chemo due to this. Will you then move to xtandi or other treatment options? My best
No, I made it through chemo. Finished 6 cycles of Docetaxel in August. I was getting a bit nervous about the tearing at the end though. It was diificult to see through it at times, but I made it.
I will probably go on second line when I develop CRPC, hopefully that's a long time from now
Hi Gregg, did you do anything like rinsing eyes during and after to prevent tearing, I heard that works. I did nothing and my eyes still tear a bit at times, I wish I had rinsed them with an eyewash to rinse out the chemo. Not really a problem for me at this point though.
I used eye drops towrd the end. They helped although they didn't eliminate the problem.
I read somewhere that frequent eye flushing with saline eyedrops during and after infusion will help avoid tear duct damage.
Better than dripping from lower down. I have experienced a runny nose ever since I had my prostate removed. But it was worse following 4th or 5th infusion but on reading the side effects of Denosumab (xgeva) i thought it may have been caused by this drug. Anyway I am on Xtandi now and Psa has dropped from 53 to 13 in 3 months. Nose still needs blowing every morning and problem is reduced as day progresses. Chalkie
Ear tearing got worse over the course of chemo (on it about a year). Still have the problem in the mornings...it is definitely a side effect. Nose running also seemed to get worse over time on chemo. Finally quit chemo, when I began to have problems walking and constant pain in my lower legs accompanied by loss of feeling. "Nothing in life is free', but chemo in exchange for its cancer control exacts a considerable toll. I am told it will take a year to recover from its effects.
Stuffy nose, yes. fully plugged during night and early morning...steamy shower to clear. Tears, yes. Getting worse with each treatment of Taxotere. Now have 7 in the book and heading for eight next. Dexamethasone eye drops help a lot.. Getting more tired after each treatment, but may be due to adding Xtandi after treatment 5 when PSA started to rise. Back to 25% drop per treatment once Xtandi added. On Lupron and had RP in June.

Thank you. We seem to have similar experience and finally my onc said that taxotere can irritate sinuses. Congestion is nearly constant for me. I am on 8 th round chemo. I’m pleased your PSA is declining- that’s great. Tried Zytiga over a year ago- no luck with it but considering Xtandi. Have also had multiple rounds of targeted radiation as well as radium 223.
Xtandi will kick your butt the worst drug I ever took
My husband has been on Xtandi with no negatives side effects. He is experiencing cognitive decline but can’t blame Xtandi.
Made it through until #9 tied to kill me. Added Xtandi when PSA went up between 4 and 5. Brought PSA right back down. Bottomed at 0.140 Still holding there as of mid May blood tests. Now 0.137.
