Here's a chemo side-effect I'd not heard mentioned here...
After three rounds of taxotere to date my fingerprints aren't completely gone, but even with retraining my TouchID Mac and phone won't respond to them.
To my eye they look smooth, but a close up photo reveals there's still a pattern. The skin looks very dry, despite using the skin lotion recommend by my oncologist and dermatologist.
Dr Google shows it's a known issue for a breast cancer drug called capecitabine.
Anyone else experience this?

I've changed my TouchIDs three times now...it'll work for a day and then stop. I've given up on it for the time being. Thank goodness for FaceID on my iPhone. Entering passwords is so tedious. LOL
I have the same issue with fingerprints not registering on my Mac ID and sometimes even scrolling on my Iphone. It's happened twice now--once a few years ago on Lupron and now on Orgovyx. Any solutions?
I hadn't heard about this as a possible side effect before. Nothing like it happened to me, even after six cycles of docetaxel and six cycles of cabazitaxel.
Yes indeed. I’ve had to changed my fingerprint Touch ID weekly. I was told one of the side effects was skin tightening. Also between the dexamethasone just prior to infusion of the docetaxel and 5 mg prednisone twice a day may impact fingertip size.
Stay well hydrated my friend. I drink approximately 90 oz daily ( at 6’3 230 lbs). Not too much lotion required, hands 1x day, forehead 2x day as scalp has also tightened.
A few weeks ago I posted about my fingernail beds feeling bruised when I pressed on them, it just dawned on me that chemo causing the fingertips to swell would certainly explain that.
Yes, happened to me, too. My major challenge was to getting a new passport with fingerprints. The system didn’t recognize my finger at all, we had to play around over half an hour until we’ve got at least something.
I was in a clinical trial around 2001-2002 with taxotere, estramustine and lupron. I lost all my hair, all 20 of my nails, and it was 4-5 years before my eyebrows came back. I honestly don't remember if my fingerprints were affected.
