New here. 61 with locally metastasized prostate cancer. Currently on Lupron, Zytiga, and Decadron. Combo has significant sexual side effects, but it's bringing PSA down and maintaining energy levels.

Hi nicixa, Welcome. We'll have to compare notes with you sometime about things like sexual side effects, PSA responses, and energy levels.

Welcome to our club. When were you diagnosed? Your pathology ? Past treatments? PSA numbers? PCa symptoms if any? If you can provide these and ask specific questions, we are all out to help you.

May you find peace and happiness and the support you need in joining us.

Sexual side effects huh? As far as I'm concerned, there is only one sexual side effect: can't get it up! Twelve ladies dancing naked wouldn't do a lick of good. So, we deal with it.

Welcome to my world, won't you come on in, miracles I guess, still happen now and then. (Jim Reeves)

Joe, If they put me on a gurney and they had 10 gorgeous woman with high heel shoes and cowboy hats dancing around me nothing would happen!

Yep, sounds like my world too. And until some better treatments come along, I figure I'd best just be grateful that I'm alive and in otherwise good health and be thankful for the occasional "miracle". My dad also had this disease. The radiation he received then was cruder, with more side effects (including sexual), and he did not have the benefit of these newest treatments. But he didn't sit around moping about it. He did the best he could each day to live his life to the fullest, until the cancer finally caught up with him. That was in 2004, and so many more treatments are now available or in the pipeline that I can't help but be grateful, even if it does suck to have this disease.

Welcome to the land of monks! I was making progress on saluting the flag last year after surgery. When I started Lupron about a year ago, not only could I not salute anymore, someone burned down the flagpole! I also stated taking Zytiga two weeks ago. No change.

welcome nixica

Sexual side effects? In the old days when I was married to my ex-wife wife I used to get Sex on the Side, that's why she's my ex-wife.

"locally metastized" is called "locally advanced" - cancer that has pushed into adjacent places, meaning not spread through the blood or lymph system.

Martin, do you think such a situation exists in reality? Even when the PCa is contained in the capsule there is the possibility of microscopic cell leakage into the blood system. Chances are more when the GS is high.

My oncologist refers to it as locally metastasized, meaning it has spread to the adjacent lymph nodes but not beyond.
