Hi, I have had two sessions of docetaxel and I am wondering if using nicotine gum to curb my weekly cigar smoking has any effect on the chemo? I have an aggressive metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer and have already gone through Zytiga and Xtandi.

Docetaxel and nicotine
Hi LP16, I am not sure of the repercussions, of the nicotine gum and chemo but both are synthetic drugs and side effects could be impacting. I hope and pray that you have a great oncologist that is providing sound feedback and I believe in my heart and mind that our diets and habits have a impact on our treatments. I am sorry I don't have any sound advice for you but I think we all can help ourselves in putting the right foods and water into our bodies to help the treatment.
Best of success!

A big problem with smoking & PCa, is not nicotine (IMO), but the fact that tobacco leaves readily take up cadmium.
The prostate will also readily take in cadmium. A zinc supplement might work against the cadmium that is lodged in your PCa cells. I suggest 50 mg zinc citrate.

You gotta quit the smokes, LP, no doubt. No tobacco is any good at this point. But I remember that that gum tasted like a dried turd, and made me quit real fast.
