I’ve been on the PC journey for 12 years. I’ve had lupron and all the standard “poisons” that we get, including Pluvicto. My PSA is now up to 99.5. I have bone mets in my lower back and sacrum w periodic pain that’s controlled w pain meds.
My oncologist is recommending a chemo concoction of Docetaxel and Carboplatin. It’s the last item on the shelf.
Have any of you guys had this combo before? How did it go? Thanks, ya’ll!

I had the two together, six infusions, at MN Oncology in MSP beginning November 2022. Major side effect was a couple of days of extreme fatigue that hit about two days after. I live in MA. I would fly to MSP, have the infusion the next day, catch flight to Boston (from where I would take a bus and a ferry to get home — meaning it was a long day and I did okay with that) and then two days later I would be laid out. Biggest piece of advice: put your toes and fingers on ice during the treatment to prevent neuropathy. The treatment helped slow down the cancer, but didn’t put it in reverse. I went on to do Pluvicto which, for me, has worked very well. Good luck to you.
Kwon saved my life. When I went to him in 2014 he told me he was going to throw a nuclear bomb on a dandelion 😀
And he did. It was brutal but here I am. Mayo even did a story on my that ended up being a 2 minute video that they shot at my house in MN. Kwon was also in it. It was so cool. If your still seeing him ask him about me, we became very close. I had to leave MN for AZ and still at Mayo PHX.
Would love to see the video if you have it available. Love the nuclear bomb and dandelion metaphor — that’s what he did to me as well! So far, it’s working…
I had four infusions of Plovicto before I was dropped from the program because my PSA had climbed into the 700s. I then started on the chemo treatment that you were considering. My PSA dropped into the 200s after 4 infusions but I had trouble with my blood counts, especially my platelets. Even with reduced amounts of docetaxel and carboplatin and a longer time between infusions, we felt it was best to stop this treatment.
I have now been on Nubeqa for 4 months but PSA has climbed into the low 300s. A new treatment will be added to my current one in the next week or two.
Mets are definitely present but have very little if any pain, just fatigue, neuropathy and pretty wobbly.
I just had a biopsy during a procedure to clear an obstruction in my bladder. Dr said it was PC, but will know more during 2 week post surgery appointment tomorrow. He also put a stent in the kidney route. Pee stream is much better.👍
still on carboplatin and taxol. Biggest issue thus far is fatigue. My PSA is down and I’m getting out —-good news. Unsure how long I can take this poison.
If fatigue is the biggest issue and you are able to get out I hope you keep going 🙏🏻🙏🏻 the doctor is encouraging my dad to do this combination. But he still has other treatments he can try so we are holding off.
I know you mentioned going through many treatments, but did you ever try radium 223?
