I finished my 8 infusions of Docetaxel 6 months ago (PSA went from 450 to .008) but still have slight Lymphedema in my legs. Yesterday I developed a sharp pain in my right big toe. No redness, no toenail infection, no injury but the joint painful to touch. I walked a lot today at work which hasn't helped. Is there a link in between chemo and gout?

Consult with your doctor and get the uric acid checked. If it is elevated follow a diet low in purines and discuss medications such as allopurinol, probenecid or the new drugs.
Thanks Tango65. It might be the ADT or something else entirely. I'm not diabetic or over weight and in good health - relatively. I've got an doc appointment tomorrow.
ADT makes osteoarthritis worst. I do not have gout and I have articular pain in my toes, hands, elbows etc. They come and go, sometimes they are pretty painful. Get the uric acid checked to rule out gout.
I, also had gout and edema after chemo. it all settled down after about a year, legs and feet now back to normal(2 years on from end of chemo). Now just have usual ADT side effects. Good Luck.
I've been on probenecid for gout for about 20 years now. It's cheap, and I've never noticed any side effects. 250 mg puts my uric acid into normal range. 500 mg puts me slightly off the low end.
Just thank your lucky stars you don't have gout of the nose.........

Great job completing chemo brother! I’ve yet to have the pleasure? Pains , and neuropathy all common for us .. I’ve had that big toe pain . It has settled a bit in recent years . But I still have random shooting pains all over. Mostly hands and feet . Hang in there. Let Chemo ouch the of away . Take care Scott 🌵
Gday Mack, wow, 8 Doxy sessions, great effort. I'm 4 days post my second and feel pretty ordinary right now. I'm scheduled for 6 sessions and was wondering if the Doxy make you feel progressively worse as it builds up in your body? Any words of wisdom on coping with this Chemo? Cheers 😎DD
Gday Esc, well it could be worse I guess? My ablutions are currently remaining normal and the anti nausea tabs are keeping my food down. Sounds like you've had a rough time of it. I was wondering what comes next for you? For me it's PSA tests and CT scans to see if the Doxy has had any positive effects on reducing the PCa. Hope it does, cheers mate, 😎 DD
My docetaxel was 1.5 years ago. Then I went straight to enzalutamide which worked it's magic, taking the PSA to undetectable for 8 months, and now rising. All good things come to and end?
Hi Doseydoe. I felt fine through the chemo, kept going to the gym and gained 7kgs (which wasn't fun taking off). The worst part of my chemo experience was the fingernails. They rose off the bed, turned nice purplely colors and peeled off. They seem to be coming back ok tho.
