iv just been diagnosed and on week 2 on Concerta. I have googled so much on what I can take alongside it. I have a review tomorrow so I’m. Going to ask about supplements I was recommended like lions mane, to see if it’s ok. I’m taking l tyrosine at the moment with my meds so will see how that goes. I am considering lions mane as I’m very hyper & like a motor in work and need some calmness 😭.

Another supplement that is 'SUPPOSE TO' complement methylphenidate is saffron..do a bit of research on it before just jumping on it...I'm trying to use vitamins and supplements to help bridge stuff together...I do feel better for it especially with magnesium...

Hi Peacheee.

When I was diagnosed I felt the same. Some days I still do. Just to say - we get it and you are not alone.

Please check with your doctor - some supplements, especially herbal, can interact with your meds in a negative way. So make sure you know what to look out for.

Unfortunately, we can't take it away. My own personal opinion is that people made a little box and labeled it 'neurotypical' aka 'normal' and placed themselves in it because most people seemed to fit in it and they understood it. Everyone that didn't fit was placed in a box labeled 'neurodiverse' aka 'disorders'. Because they didn't know better, 'different' became wrong. Please don't do that to yourself.

Adhd has so many positives and I so wish we can change the perspective of the world. Learn as much as you can about it and work with it.

I found Vit B co, Magnesium and Omegas help a lot. And there's no negative interactions with those. Also eating meals at about the same time every day helps my body and mind a lot. I'm still working on the 'drinking water' part, but hey, we have to have grace with ourselves!

All the best!!

I love taking a multivitamin from Dr. Mercola because it contains magnesium, which is great for me! I usually take just half of it. Along with that, I also enjoy Olly’s Stress and Olly’s Focus vitamins, plus some fish oil to keep everything balanced.

Hi Peachee...vitamins and 'some' supplements are very helpful to replenish what the stimulants deplete us of...these are ones I found to be beneficial...

Magnesium-

focus and energy releasing.

Iron-

helps to make red blood cells and transport nutrients.

Vit C-

this is important to take with iron to help our bodies to absorb the iron. 'Precaution' take Vit C in the evening, especially when your crashing otherwise it will cancel out the stimulant.

B vitamins-

these again are good for mood stablising and energy releasing.

Zinc-

another one for focus and calmness

Electrolyes-

these salts are important for transportation of the nutrients we take but remember to drink at least 2ltr of water. If you don't drink enough water it does cause your blood to thicken and in turn can put a little stress on your heart

All of these are important for energy metabolism and neurological functioning. They all work together in one way or another..

I'm also going to try ashwaganda and saffron...but I don't know how much they work as I'm waiting for them to arrive in the post..

Please research these as I might not be 100% on point...I don't to want to give false information of course...

I hope this helps.
