Prescribing provider

Question for those of you on medication for ADD, who is managing your medications? I have horrible health insurance and am looking for a provider to medicate my husband. I need opinions on who is best to accomplish this; neurologist, PCP, or psychiatrist?

Thanks

I see a physician assistant who works in the same clinic where my therapist is. The PA prescribes under the license of a psychiatrist there. I've met the psychiatrist for one session and much prefer the PA.

Thanks. I have been looking for a psychiatrist for the past 2 years. The problem is the good ones don't accept insurance and the affordable 3 that my insurance gave me as an option are horrible!!

For me, I actually use Google Maps to find clinics close to me. I look at clinics vs private practice or psychiatrists that practice independently. If you start in a clinic with a therapist, you can see a prescribing provider fairly easily.

Yes, I work with a therapist who works in conjunction with other therapists and a psychiatrist.
