[5-2-2021] The study has concluded. Thank you so much to everyone who responded

Howdy, Everyone

My name is Andrew and I am a currently enrolled grad student at Clemson University looking for some help with an one-on-one interview project I am doing.

I'm conducting interviews with people who have ADHD about their romantic relationships so I can understand what it's like to manage ADHD and romance. I'm looking for anyone is currently in or has been in a romantic relationship in the past 3 years.

As a person with ADD, I recognize that both ADHD and romantic relationships can be sensitive issues, so I will make sure your confidentiality is secured.

Please feel free to leave a comment if you're interested and I hope to hear back from you.

-Andrew

Hi Andrew, I have ADHD and have been with my husband for over 4 years. It has definitely impacted my romantic relationship and I would love to interview about it! Let me know how you would like to conduct the interview and how I can help you out!

Hi Andrew, sounds like an awesome project. I have ADHD and have been in a relationship for the last four years. I am happy to talk about the many ways my ADHD affects my relationship. I am sure my partner could provide insight as well, from a neurotypical perspective, lol.

Hi Andrew,

Perhaps you've already seen these, but here are a couple things that may help in your literature review for your project.

Thing #1:

"“For this first chart, I sorted by this first question, sorted from highest to lowest: ‘Which of your ADHD Partner’s traits attracted you?’ [online survey fielded Oct. 2004 - Spring 2005; n=162]” (source: adhdrollercoaster.org/categ...; also see: adhdrollercoaster.org/about... )

Survey question: "Which of your ADHD Partner’s traits attracted you?"

Thing #2:

"Figure: Partner relationship difficulties associated with adult ADHD: UK results from the European Lifetime Impairment Survey. Reproduced with kind permission from Pitts M et al. Arch Psychiatr Nurs 2015; 29: 56-63.” (source: adhd-institute.com/ADHDacro... )

You can reach out if you need another person to interview. My relationship is on the brink of being over (mostly because my adhd got progressively worse last year), but it had been over six years.

Too late? If you still need people I’d be happy to chat. I was not diagnosed during ALL my relationships and I can now see how ADHD played a major roll in choosing and destroying relationships. Let me know!
