Hi could anyone recommend the best books or podcasts that have helped you manage or understand your ADHD better. Are there any must read books.
The first book I read was called how to ADHD which I really enjoyed and made me want to dig deeper and learn more. The second I read (ADHD explained) i thought was a revaluation and it has really helped me make sense of my life so far and has given me some wonderful tips, tricks and ideas to help me improve my life. So if anyone can recommend me anything as good as s this or better than I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you friends.

The very first ADHD audio book I listened to, which set me on this journey, was 'Dirty laundry' by Rox and Richard Pink. Highly recommend.
I have found the 'I Have ADHD' podcast by Kirsten Carder really helpful. Especially looking back through older episodes for titles that intrigue me. She did a series on executive function challenges which I found very enlightening.
Also 'Adhd is Awesome' by Penn & Kim Holderness, and 'Driven to distraction' by Dr Hallowell - this is an older book (written in the 90s I believe) but is really helpful with tons of case studies.
Thank you so much for your suggestions I will definitely get round to reading them all. Dr Hallowell wrote ADHD explained and it has opened my eyes and given me lots and lots to think about, it is a great book.
Thanks again for your help though I really do appreciate it.
Hi and thank you for your suggestion and I will definitely check it out, the support on here is fantastic. Keep up the good work everyone and thanks again bearlover.
Hi and thank you so much for your suggestions, I will definitely give them a read. I have read one by Dr Halloway and I can’t tell you how much it has helped me understand myself better.
hello! I've added a few on here you might want to check out... The subjects are ADHD Podcast & Best Books- it’s been a little while, but I know they should still be there..
Thank you for contacting CHADD National Resource Center on ADHD. I found three helpful podcasts for you. You can listen to them by following these links:
Hi Liseth and thank you again the brilliant information you have shared with me. I have got so much to look at now and I am excited about starting my journey to understand myself better. Hopefully I will be able to this amazing community with some useful ideas I am hoping to learn from all of this. Thank you for looking into the books as well for me, you have been very helpful indeed.
The books from Abigail Levrini are amazing. There's a second edition to "Succeeding with Adult ADHD" that is one of my go-tos. Has worksheets embedded in the book which I really like and can also be easily created in a google sheets or program like that.
I agree ‘Driven to distraction is one of the best books around’ this was the first book I read.
The second book that made me believe I do have adhd and sought a diagnosis was ‘Women with adhd’ by Sari Solden. (I just scrolled back and noted you’re a man but will still leave this here!…you may want to recommend it to any women in your life or read it to understand how women experience adhd)
In true ADHD style I have now got about 15 books! Some only partly read and mostly written for women.
Two people I follow on Instagram who literally make me feel better about myself are
Thanks again, everyone has been so helpful on this site. I will definitely check them all out when I get the chance, I have probably got more books to go at than yourself now after everybody’s help on here.
I find it a lot easier to listen to them on audible as I can be listening whilst doing other things like driving, washing up, playing with the dog, played in bed before you go to sleep. I find that by doing it like this you can get through books a lot faster.
