Hi my name is Donna. We have had custody of three grandchildren, ages 2,8 &10, for a year. The oldest, Sean has ADHD. It has been a long year and I am determined to learn as much as I can about this disease.

Hi Donna, how wonderful that you have taken in and are raising your grandchildren. I’m raising my 5 year old grandson also. He has several diagnoses including ADHD. Frankly I’m at my wits end. Someone in this forum suggested that I watch Dr Russell Barkley ADHD Essential on YouTube. If you haven’t listened to him I highly recommend it. I learned more about my grandson in 15 than I have through counseling and his pediatrician. Take care and God bless you for raising you grandchildren.

My son is 13, he has adhd and odd. I always remember that I am his only true advocate. I love him when no one else does. I try to tell him everyday that I am on his side but we all have to find a way to live in this world with everyone else. It’s very difficult. I lay awake at night and worry. I try to think of myself as a life coach at this point. He is beyond the age of normal discipline tactics.
