I'm a parent of a 6th grader with ADHD, but I'm also a communication scholar starting a new research project to study how parents manage their ADHD kids' identities (and their own identities as parents). As a parent, I feel like I have to constantly explain and advocate for my child, but I also worry and wonder if I'm coming on too strong and offending teachers, or disclosing too much, or maybe sometimes not doing enough to prepare coaches/directors/etc... I have searched for research on these relational issues and not found much at all. I have a brief (5 minute) electronic survey that I'd love for folks to participate in, if you are so inclined.
Are you currently parenting a K-12 child with ADHD? Or are you a working adult with ADHD? A new research program in Communication Studies at Creighton University seeks participation from individuals in either (or both) of these categories for a study that looks at the social, relational, and communicative aspects of ADHD. Please consider clicking on the link below to access the very brief (5 minutes or less) electronic survey.
