Another original walking place for me…easy to calculate the distance pre smart phone as I had a local canal book with the distances in!
At the moment I’m using the canal more for running…but I’ll add in some extra time on my warm up and cool down walks to reach the magic 1️⃣2️⃣😂
Highlights this week…paragliders over the mountain, a paddle boarder, and Mangalitza pigs in a field!
I love this picture collages! And having a choice between canal, lake and town! What a fab environment for a walker and runner!
We have a canal 2km from us, and I always thought I’d use it for my 10k runs, but there is a knee-deep mudded agricultural underpass to get to the canal, so I haven’t yet had the right combination of courage, weather and season to be successful in exploring that route… one day ….
Thank you…yes I am lucky. During lockdown however, I was stuck with the main road and housing estate as the others were all short drives away ☹️
The canal is fab…but…there’s an annoying steep incline just over 5 minutes/0.5k from car park…impossible to avoid. To do a 5k I have to cross 2 roads…and for the really long distances it turns into a dirt track which is really narrow in places 😬

2.3 miles from my door…only about 7 minutes by car…
…a decent walk away…BUT…it would be uphill all the way back ⛰️😫

I love your photos LottieMW, particularly the second from the left on the bottom row - so peaceful! It reminds me of a river near where I lived as a child - I loved that walk and did it all the time.
Thank you! It can be busy at weekends though…walkers (with and without dogs), runners and cyclists!
