MrRfc and I set out for a long walk on Sunday. It was perfect weather for a distance walk. A little bit of sun, a little bit of wind and no rain. We had picnic in a backpacks and set off to walk part of the Grand Union Canal.
We tubed it to Uxbridge and found our way from there to the Canal side. It is a lovely quite walk. We often walk that Canal near Camden and it is always busy and bustling on the weekend.
We made a detour at the Colne Valley regional park for use of their facilities and MrRfc found he could not quite pass the ice cream freezer and came out with a magnum. 😀.
Just over half way we stopped for our picnic, we had to wait a bit as there was a patch of the route that was very midge heavy and neither of us fancied eating in that.
About 3/4 way in we found a lovely pub called Coy in the Carp, (yes correct spelling) and stopped for a refreshing half of cider.
There were some beautiful barges along the way and gorgeous houses along the backside all with garden tables overlooking the canal. You can see that people just love to spend time sat by the waterside.
Three years ago we tried a little walk but had to turn back after about 1.5km as MrRfc was not well or strong enough to go much further. Three years and a new kidney he managed 16km and we still managed to stop at our local for a G&T on the way home to meet up with friends.
Happy walking to you all
