Hi, I just really like walking. I walk everywhere and for as long as possible. I don't really know what 'the app' is and don't like technology. i gave up smoking 2 weeks ago and now walk approx. 10-15 miles a day before and after work (where I walk everywhere rather than send emails to people a two minute walk away) to keep my mind off it.
I'm not an expert, I just really like it.

Hello mdr1000 - welcome to our forum! Well done on stopping smoking, that's NOT easy. I stopped nearly 4 years ago, but I couldn't do it without help, so I'm a vaper now! We have more in common - technology and I aren't at all friends, so I also don't use the app! It sounds like you are an accomplished walker - very well done, mdr1000! That is a great attitude to walking. Well done for your two weeks without cigarettes, I am an ex smoker as well so I know how it can be. Keep up the walks as I am sure it will help to banish those cravings.
That's some fantastic walking. I try and walk at the office as well, it gets you up and out of your seat and is more personal as well. You can really get trapped sitting too much at work.
Fortunately, my workplace is quite sprawling and I have to cover all areas so i can usually spend a good 4-5 hours a day on foot.
You are so right Annemieke1- I'm around your age too and my health has improved no end since I started walking. I really like the idea of a meditative walk to start the day!
Its the best start to the day for me. I'm on the beach at 5:30 every morning come rain, shine (or of late-snow) with my lurcher. We're a very lucky pair, especially as it's light now and by May, I'll be there at 5 to see the sun come up and have a paddle.
I'm seriously starting to think about walking earlier - so much more peaceful and a good time to get your mind straight for the day! I'm not allowed to have a dog where I live, which is sad, as your lurcher sounds like a good walking companion.
Well I'm sure it'd be just as nice without. If you've got a bit of countryside or coast about or even in town, if it's pretty safe where you live, I'd recommend it. I take a flask-cup of coffee.
I have to make breakfast for my wife and girls when I get in otherwise I'd be going armed with a disposable barbecue and a pack of decent sausages as-well, haha.
