I thought I was getting better over the last couple of months then the last few weeks I was all over the place. Still seeing my counsellor and now on 40mg of citalapram. I am hoping this helps because the stress of changing medication again is too much. My head just feels empty again

How do you get on with the citalopram? I'm on 30mg and the weight I have gained is making me more depressed than I was in the first place!

Morning Suzie34,

I have put weight on too. 2 trouser sizes in as many months. I am only petite 4 feet 11 inches and I am really upset about it. I have never had to think about my weight before; it's always been constant til now

I used to take Citalopram but found it useless to be honest. I had cause to see my GP in January and he just happened to be a locum who told me that Cit could exacerbate a previous medical condition so I took myself off it. Therefore it can't be that causing weight gain. In any case I had been on it for ages with no weight gain.

I am on vitamin B, B12 and Iron but can't see how that is causing it and my eating habits haven't changed. So now I'm thinking is it IBS (I get pain sometimes and always feel bloated). Do I need HRT or is it underactive thyroid or do I just have to accept that it's weight gain around the middle as a result of my metabolism slowing down as a result of age.

I think I'm going to go back to GP...might be an idea for you to just to rule other causes out? xx

It's ok so far. Not noticed any weight gain. I don't seem to have any side effects other than vivid dreams

Someone posted about that the other day (or was that you!) I get that too! I've generally seen good results with citalopam though, and I hope you do, too x
