help please :(

I have had symptoms of a UTI since 31st October. I had Nitrofuration twice at the start of all this and things started to settle until I had a bath. I was then given 7 days of trimethoprim- I felt no real difference with this. Dipstick tests never really show infection so 3 urines have been sent to lab since this started and I consistently have Red blood cells. I have had blood tests to check kidney function and they were all fine. I have been told to try Pivmecillinam- has anyone tried this anti biotic before? I have health anxiety and hate trying things I haven't tried before. I am also waiting for a phone call off the GP tomorrow and I think they'll send me for an ultrasound. But it's all so confusing, one doctor said this is not a UTI while the other one said it's a lingering uti and the Pivmecillinam should help clear it and another doctor mentioned interstitial cystitis. Does this sound familiar to anyone else? Thanks I’m advance

Hi there, I don't know your age, but I too have symptoms of a UTI every so often but when tested, it isn't. The GP said it's an irritable bladder which occurs during menopause. I get the urge to pee and slight stomach cramps for a week or so then it settles again. Hope this helps. X

Had loads of UTI due to pessary in and out with prolapse. I now always ask for pivmacillinam ( it's penicillin based so make sure your not allergic) UTI didn't always show up on test. Pivmacillinam always worked for me. Give it a try.
