Soothing Creams? Folliculitis?

(I apologise if this is a bit TMI)

Over the last few years, I’ve been suffering with some sort of dermatitis in my genital region. It happens maybe once or twice a year - whenever I have a bikini wax/Hollywood wax.

I always noticed that when the hair is growing back, I get very itchy on the inner folds above my “hood”. (Sorry!) I notice that the itchiness and the pain gets better if I were to shave again so there’s no hair at all or to wait it out and the hair exceeds the ‘coarse’ growing back phase.

For years I have worried and worried that I had HPV 2 despite having seen a doctor and being swabbed and not hearing anything. Aesthetically, I always panic that it is HPV but tested negative before and have been with the same partner for 4+ years.

It happens solely in the same spot and happens if I shave close to the skin or when I have a wax and the hair is growing back.

I have used creams, salty water, Vaseline etc to help with the itching and because it’s so dry.

I have a small split in my skin/fold because of itching.

Does anyone have any advice regarding best OTC creams for this sort of thing? Or how to stop the itching. I’m a frequent flyer at the GP surgery, for other things, that I’m afraid I’ll get palmed off again. Plus, I know that it doesn’t go away - I just need to get through it whilst it’s healing. Part of me thinks it might be dermatitis or folliculitis etc. Not too sure. Apologies for being so TMI.

Try one of the creams they use on babies. I think it’s called Sudacrem or something similar. It contains zinc which helps healing.
