High LH and Oestradiol

Does anyone else have these high? LH (Luteinising hormone)

I just got some bloods done privately as i thought i had a thyroid problem due to high TSH on previous tests.

Went through medichecks to get a female hormone test which included the above plus thyroid expecting to see something thyroid related high and they were fine where LH and Oestradiol were very high for any time of the month i was in.

Just wonder if anyone else has this or experiences the following symptoms because of this. I realise this might be quite specific.

Extreme Tiredness

Itching skin

Dry skin in places

Weight gain around lower stomach and sides (could be somewhat lockdown related too!)

Concentration problems

Memory problems

Mild Lower back ache

A lot of mild PMS most of the month over 2 weeks prior to period.

I should add i turned 30 in April and i am otherwise healthy.

what are your thyroid results? the ranges are sometimes wide and what is optimal for you might not be just within a range. i had high antibodies low free t3 but ‘normal’ tsh and t4 and i was very unwell

Weirdly i was expecting thyroid ones to be high or something but my TSH was 3.56, free t3 was 4.63 and free thyroxine was 13.7

if you post them with the ranges in thyroid group on here there may well be some good advice.’ my tsh was 5 and i felt like death. did you test antibodies? i think it’s accepted by most of us in thyroid patient world that most people feel best with tsh under 1

I will try and update with my full results above now.

in normal range rarely means anything, it should be under 1 from my experience, but maybe post and see what others think

Hi Coop, bit late here, so apologies if you have your answer! I also have high LH level. I had some fertility tests done last year due to trying for a number of years and they told me it could indicate PCOS but I have quite mild symptoms which confused the doctor even more! I do have some of the symptoms you have listed above and I really have to make an effort to get a good night's sleep and exercise regularly to ward of concentration issues and tiredness and I hold qll my weight on my lower abdomen and hips and I suffer with PMS for approx 2 1/2 weeks per month! But I didn't know any of this until I hit 35 and went for these tests, so I feel lucky that I dont suffer as much as some women with PCOS! Again, apologies if you have your answer now but thought I would share my experience 🙃

Hi Mitchscully!

Thanks for your reply i don’t have any concrete answers yet but i have another test booked for the 18th Aug, exactly a month after first tests. I’m single and 30 still so the actual reason i went for tests was due to symptoms and mainly because we were going down thyroid route, it was only chance that i discovered potential fertility issues. I want children super bad so I’m hoping all’s ok and i could in future whether it’s naturally or ivf.

Thanks

Best of luck for the tests and even if it did indicate fertility issues, I can honestly say that the ivf route I had to go down has been so positive (I dont have a positive yet, another procedure that would increase my chances has been postponed for now!) We are very lucky that there is so much help and medical treatment is improving all the time so you will be absolutely fine, I'm sure 🙂

Absolutely! Oh i wish you luck for the future, looks like i might have to go solo but you are so right with how lucky we are with medicine!
