I had a total abdominal hysterectomy taking everything, had 1 post op UTI. I'm 7 weeks post op, every time I go for a wee, I have pain and pressure after finishing for a few seconds. It's starting to get me down. No UTI. I had a vertical cut.
Has anyone else experienced pain where their bladder is and obviously it's close to where everything was taken out too.

I realise that this is a bit of an old thread, I’m in the same position..Total hysterectomy and ovaries removed now 5 weeks post op,No UTI either. I was just wondering if your bladder settled down and if so how long did it take?
Hi Jingles11I'm now 7 months post OP and yes I can say my bladder has settled, I dont get that uncomfortable feeling when going to the bathroom. I must say I turned a corner around 5 months post OP. I mentioned it to the Consultant and he said the bladder sits on top of the uterus so it will need time to settle down, so I just persevered. I did feel like I had another UTI at certain times and did a home UTI test and it was clear. I tried to up my water intake. One thing I have noticed is that although I dont over drink and should drink more, I do find I'm going to the toilet more frequently and it does hurt when you need to desperately go but once I've been it's ok. I'm trying to remember to do pelvic floor exercises too. Hope this helps, if in doubt, always seek medical attention. 😊 Hope things settle down for you. I didn't realise just how long things would take to settle and everyone is different so please dont get disheartened whatever stage you are at in your recovery. You will get there 😊
Hi Boodie ..Thanks so much for taking the time to reply it’s much appreciated, it’s hard not to start worrying about how recovery is progressing..I guess there’s been so much going on internally it’s probably bruised and swollen for a lot longer than you imagine.
I’m really glad you’re much better now , it definitely hurts more when my bladder is full and then relieved once I’ve emptied it but like you say I’ll get there in the end.😊
