Unusual clotting & chronic pain

Hi.... Iv recently had irregular and abnormal bleeding.

I am on contraception and don’t usually get periods at all. But it’s the first time Iv used it after a 12 month break.

After 4 weeks of spotting and random heavy bleeds I had chronic pain and a heavy pressure and eventually passed what looked like a clot of about 5 inches. It wasn’t just red or black, it had white purple and look like what was gristle in it. Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? As I went to out of hours and they couldn’t tel me what it was which has left me miffed and still a little worried about what has actually happened. Any views/comments or feed back would be greatly appropriated :)

Hello

That sounds like a distressing experience and you need to know what’s happened to you.

Your post says you had a break for 12 months and then went back on the pill. Is that right? Did you see a GP before you went back on?

I’m not sure but I think stopping the pill and re-starting again might cause some problems? Obviously you are having some problems with the pill you’re on so it would be worth contacting your GP just to find out if maybe a different pill would suit you better.

All the best xx

I was on the same contraception for 5 years before with a few gaps. And since that incident I have been fine, it’s just strange how the out of hours and my gp couldn’t tell me what it was that I passed, and worrying tbh. I took a photo to take in to them but neither of them could give me any answers. They took urine samples and checked my temperature...But there was no sign of infection so that’s something. There was just a build up of white blood cells in my uterus, no idea what that could indicate 🤷🏼‍♀️

🤷‍♀️ as long as you are well now.

🤔 The only time I passed something similar was after an early miscarriage..

I actually had to take a morning after after my injection because the first week it doesn’t protect you and I didn’t realise. But the doctors told me it couldn’t of been a miscarriage as my urine didn’t pick it up 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I have known people to be pregnant and fail tests, so I am a little suspicious to be honest x

😕 It was very early days for me, I knew I was a couple of weeks late..but I was totally unprepared for what actually occurred, I actually had to push ..I hadn’t had any test (this was way back in the 1970s) but my doctor confirmed it had been a miscarriage.

Do you mind me asking what it looked like?? The unusual thing about this was the pressure and the pain. I get very bad period pains but nothing compared to this. And then after I was exhausted and and was burning up... and was very hormonal for about 2/3 weeks after xx

It was about the size of a fifty pence, white-ish grey, bloody and split. I’d had intense increasing pain and then the urge to push. After this had been expelled the pain stopped. It was so long ago, but I still recall it vividly..I was very shocked, I had really hoped I was pregnant..
