HRT typical dosage

Hello, I just started HRT with 100mg progesterone ( UTROGESTAN) and 2 mg estradiol (ZUMENON).

My period stopped 11 years ago and I am 58 now.

I would like to know what is a typical HRT dosage. I am new to all this. Thank you very much.

🤔 Prescribing may vary depending on the individual concerned. The best information will come from the person who prescribed the medication.

In the past, a "one-size-fits-all" approach to estrogen dosing in postmenopausal women was used, eg, all women were started on the same dose ("standard doses"), and if symptoms were relieved, that dose was continued indefinitely. However, the current approach is to start with lower doses, such as transdermal estradiol (0.025 mg) or oral estradiol (0.5 mg/day), and titrate up to relieve symptoms. This approach does not apply to women with primary ovarian insufficiency, who require a higher daily dose

Thank you very much wobblybee.

I thought that 2mg estradiol to start were a bit too much. I don't have primary ovarian insufficiency. Thinking of reducing to 1mg..

Also I am 58 and my period stopped 11 years ago, better to be careful I guess..

Hi fibrosandie, I can say for sure that the quality of my sleep is much better, and for me this is very good news. I didn’t have hot flushes . In general I feel it’s helping !

I guess you need at least a few weeks before noticing improvement.

Best wishes,

Clara
