Am I protected and what are the possibilities?

I have 2 questions;

1) when you take your 7 day pill break on the combined pill are you still protected through out?

2) I took 3 packs back to back on the combined pill that I’m on, I usually stop taking the pill on a Tuesday and start again the following Wednesday in between this time I always have started my period on the Friday but this time I haven’t, could it be delayed because of stress or even due to taking 3 packs back to back? I’m hoping it comes within the next few days otherwise I’ll have to do a test but was just wondering on others inputs.

yes you should be protected even on your break but I think you might have to go through a full cycle before it is effective. your pill pack should have a leaflet in it which will explain it all.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say you have taken 3 pill packs back to back do you mean without a break or just that you have taken 3 months worth.? Either way your hormones may take a while to settle into a new routine and if you are stressed this could also affect you. If you have not had your period before you are due to take the next pack it's probably worth doing a pregnancy test just to be sure. As the pill is not 100% effective. You could also check with a pharmacist as they would probably be able to advise. Good luck.
