Can't be bothered

Over the last couple of months I've been having really strong feelings of "can't be bothered". Since becoming menopausal (LMP was in Nov 2014) I've noticed that I generally get less het up and worried about stuff like my appearance, and worrying what other people think. At first I thought this was a good thing but since September it's hit a whole new level.

I've been to see the Advanced Nurse Practitioner at my GP, and she suggested HRT although she wasn't convinced it was solely down to menopause. Anyone experienced anything similar? I was made redundant in May this year and wondered if it was anything to do with that.

Yep, motivation is bad and I’ve become the worst procrastinator on the planet. Feel tired a lot and have a tendency (if I don’t check myself) to binge on carbs. I can sit all day thinking about all the things I need to do and not move a muscle!!

I used to be vibrant and fit (trained for and ran 3 marathons in the early 2000s). Now I barely recognise myself. I know I need to sort it out, get back to regular exercise (other than just walking the dogs) and ditch the carbs etc. But I just can’t be bothered.

My spark has vanished ☹️ sounds like yours has too Stroppybrunette.

Maybe I should try the HRT. There's some evidence (not particularly strong) that it can help prevent Alzheimer's too.

hi stroppybrunette

i'm michelle i'm new to all this peri menopause stuff , i'm only 43 and just found out at the end of jan 2020 that i'm peri menopause . around 2 yrs ago i had all this stuff happen with my periods . 1 week i would have a period then nothing for 2 months then bleed again for about 3 months . i thought then that something wasn't right and got blood tests done ,they all came back normal so i never bothered going back to the gp as i thought blood tests don't lie. it wasn't until over the christmas period 2019 things changed for me . last february i made alot of changes health wise ,started exercising ,lost 3 stones joined a gym which before i'd never thought i would do ,i actually felt great in myself for the 1st time in yrs . then come november my working hrs changed i was working longer hrs and i never got to the gym on a regular basis .december comes and my energy levels were at an all time low then in january in hit me like a whirlwind . my mood changed 1 minute i was happy then i'd be very emotional next i was ready for commiting a murder . my husband who has been very supportive in all this at the time never knew about the menopause it nearly cost me my marriage . i felt so depressed ,a really scary time until i got all the tests done and found out i had high cholesterol. i was borderline with my thyroid and peri menopause. i decided to go on hrt they have at the moment prescribed me with elleste duet 1mg . i've only been on for just under a month but i still feel quite rundown and tired all the time. i've been taking dizzy spells and i'd had an anxiety attack twice before i started hrt. i'm not saying i have noticed a huge difference as i've only been on it since the beginning of feb . they did say to give it time ,should help with alot of things like i have osteoarthritis .i'm also taking menopace as the doctor said to take a good multivitamin and make sure i have a glass of milk for calcium . i also take vitamin d which was also recommended to take .
