No sex x 3 years

I posted elsewhere but maybe this is the right spot. So no sex three years and I’m married. Hubby has never been the initiator and I went through menopause last few years so was kind of really disinterested. But I feel we are not close at all because of it and I’m so embarrassed to approach the subject. Advice?

I went 5 years with no sex when my children were little because I was too tired looking after toddlers all day. The menopause hasn't really affected my sex drive but thyroid disease has. Everyone is different.

But did you feel like you and hubby were just roommates? I’m 53 and don’t want the rest of my life to be loveless.

No I was too busy looking after little people to be bothered if I am being honest.

You could try psychosexual counselling? They will usually take you through a few ideas to introduce closeness again, such as date nights or sensate focus methods. It may need you to work on the closeness before you go full on sex, but it's something you need to discuss with your hubby first off. I personally find it helps to have the mediator that comes with counselling, but we're all individual.
