Hi Barbara, I'm sorry to hear you have heart failure, but I'm really glad they picked up on it and are now taking steps to treat it.

Have they given you any tips for diet going forward? I think the most important thing is to limit ultra-processed foods (like breads, sweets, ready meals), and to avoid hydrogenated oils (aka vegetable oils, margarine). Increase your heart healthy vegetables, like salads and brocolli.

I like whole 30 as a quick diet plan for promoting a healthy habits, and it's well worth looking into. You don't have to follow it, but just take some inspiration from it.

I forgot to add: gentle exercise. A little walk each day, but if you're self conscious about walking outside, check out Lesley Sansone on YouTube for some beginner workouts that just involve walking on the spot and gentle movements (you do them at home where no one has to see)

Hi Barbara, my question to you is WHY is your EF 10%?

How long has it been like this?

You are at risk for lethal arrhythmias.

Has your cardiologist suggested an AICD?

Diet will not fix this!!!!!

Your exercise program should be in a cardiac rehab only where they can watch your heart rate and rhythm and monitor your blood pressure...

My heart rate dropped to 10% within 8 months. My heart rate sometimes is 140. This is my 3 rd Cardiologist in 7 years.

I just became a patient with the 3rd Cardiologist two weeks ago. He has changed my medicine so many times it’s hard to keep up.

What is a AICD?

AICD is a pacemaker/defibrillator.

You need to discuss with your cardiologist.

I can't believe this hasn't been brought up if you're EF is truly 10%

Hi! My EF is now 60. I was out in Entressto and Amiodaren. I’m stronger but I have a way to go.

I’ve had 2 cardioversion that kept me in rhythem for 3 days.

One month ago I had a ablation and I don’t have as much shortness of breath. Since my ablation my left and right sides have pain and burning off and on. It helps me to put a ice pack in my sides.

Has anyone experienced this side effect?

🙂 Barbara, I’m very sorry you have this diagnosis. Type heart into the searchbox (next to your profile picture, top right) there are several links, you could find one of them useful.
