pain during sex

hi,

my name is Emma, i am 31 yrs old, hope all you ladies are well! so I noticed going back to November when having sex I had a dull throb in my left (what I can only imagine to be) ovary. didn't last all too long and I didnt give it much thought. this happened again in December and then a couple of weeks ago (only times we have had sex... we have 2 kids.. chance doesn't come around too often 😜😜) always in same spot and doesn't last very long. I have noticed as well that even though I don't track my periods they seem to be getting more and more regular. I have kept a note this time so I can check! so I know I had 1 over Xmas, 1 in Jan and I'm on again now which seems a little too frequent with me. no pain or anything during, or leading up to it.

I am getting a bit concerned now, and worrying I may have a cyst, or obviously the big C. I don't have any other symptoms.

i know i need to book a doctor's appointment, but I'm always at the doctors! I have a few things going on at the moment and I feel like im never at work, but I'm worrying like mad that it's something more sinister now

thanks for reading x

Just a general bit of advice is that this kind of thing will be happening more frequently as you get into your thirties, as your hormones start fluctuating more and more. It could be a cyst on your left ovary that you’re feeling. That sinister feeling is a certain queasiness that fluctuating hormones cause, ugh. Ovarian cysts are very common. Some cause a dull pain, some sharp. As you know, ovulation also can cause this twinge of pain. No need for panic but keep an eye on it and if you can get an ultrasound go ahead and get all the tests you can. Your mid thirties will be entering into: the peri menopause zone. Believe it or not, this starts that early. The symptoms are insidious, they creep up on you. Your pms may intensify. Your thyroid may give out. Your adrenals may go kaput. Read about your symptoms. Find an enlightened doctor. Don’t settle for mediocre results. Stay as healthy as you can. Best of luck!

I put up with horrendous pain around both ovaries for years, it was unbelievable. It only started after I started birth control pills. Like you, my imagination ran riot, but eventually I saw my Doctor and had investigations, no ultrasound at that time. So, I have adhesions around my ovaries, these were probably caused by surgery for appendicitis when I was very young. Every time I ovulated the adhesions tightened around the ovaries and caused pain. Fortunately this has abated since menopause. But, pain started up again, this time I had an ultasound, and an ovarian cyst was found. I was told to get in touch if pain increased and became continuous. You have a lot going on with 2 kids, you need peace of mind, make an appointment 👍
