I take 50mcg of eutirox and 10mcg escitalopram a day. Just find out I’m 4weeks pregnant. I will set up appointments Monday morning and need advice.

You must make sure your thyroid levels are good as the baby's health depends on it. 50mcg is a very low dose so you will probably need an increase.

I suggest you post on ThyroidUK forum for thyroid/pregnancy advice.

Please join Thyroid UK for excellent advice regarding your hypothyroidism: healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk

It could be you're depressed as a result of being undertreated if eutirox is a brand name for levothyroxine (T4). 50mcg is a starting dose for this medication, so it may be that your GP or endocrinologist needs to adjust your dose. Appropriate thyroid medication may stop your depression, so you won't need to medicate for this. If you have blood test results, post them on the forum with the laboratory ranges that are in brackets, so the wonderful admins & clever folks on TUK can give you the best advice.

It's also important to make sure you have a good level of nutrition to make your medication work for you as certain nutrients are essential for converting all our hormones. in particular, we need good levels of vitamin D3, C. B's (especially B12 & folate), K2, & the minerals iron (for ferritin) & magnesium. These are all essential & extremely important for your baby, too!

If you have Hashimoto's disease, it's an autoimmune condition that many people find better for taking zinc & selenium to lower autoimmune antibodies. A lot of people find adopting a gluten free diet is beneficial, & some going dairy free.

There's a US organisation called NAHIS which has excellent thyroid health advice, too: nahypothyroidism.org/
