IUD removal - pregnant so soon?

I had my IUD removed last Thursday for family planning, and TTC straightaway that evening. My next period isn’t due until 6th Nov but I’ve had very light bleeding since Saturday and sore breasts today. I know I could get pregnant straightaway after IUD removal but surely I wouldn’t have started symptoms of implantation within only a few days?

🤔 It could be useful and give peace of mind to have a pregnancy test.

Your IUD can be removed at any time by a trained doctor or nurse. If you're not having another IUD put in and do not want to get pregnant, use additional contraception, such as condoms, for 7 days before you have it removed. It's possible to get pregnant as soon as the IUD has been taken out.

Thank you for your reply. My goal is to get pregnant but I do recognise your advice from the NHS website. My question (not a concern or worry, it would actually be great news!) is; would I really be showing signs after only 2 days without IUD?

🙂 I’ve seen this info on another site too, so it’s possible to get pregnant immediately. Take a test, if it’s positive Congratulations 🙂

What sort of IUD was it? Hormone based or copper?

Yes the kyleena

Ok, I've Googled to check if that is a hormone implant or a copper one (which has no hormones). It seems the kyleena has progestin, and it could be the withdrawal of the progestin is causing tenderness, as your body adapts to the loss of artificial hormones.

As you were menstruating on the coil, it's possible it was removed within your fertile window and there's still a chance you might have fallen pregnant, but I suspect it would be too soon to tell.
