I've mostly seen the ketogenic diet talked about in a thyroid group, and people there have quite good success with it (people with thyroid issues have a lot of difficulty losing weight). It's something I've only ever seen in relation to auto-immune disease, but if it's just for weight loss, I don't know how successful it is.
You might find Whole 30 a good place to start, and then you could transition to keto/paleo from there (whole 30 is a month legume/grain/dairy/soya free and it's big in the US).
Whole 30 exists over here too, it's just it's more popular in the US, so a lot of recipe ideas come from over there.
You could try asking about the keto diet over in the thyroid section of the site - you'll get some more tailored feedback there, it's been getting a lot of discussion lately since "the magic pill" came out on Netflix
