Painful boobs

I have painfull breasts and a lump in one, i have been referred to hospital any body had painful boobs!?

Hi NM13. It could be a cyst or something else. You need a mammogram to determine what it is. Some people also have fibrostic, dense breast tissue that can be aggravated by diet, causing pain and lumbs.

Hi, yes I have recently been to hospital for a mammogram and ultra sound. I had pain/ tenderness and a lump. Thankfully it turned out to be a cyst and was drained. I was told that changes in hormones can cause the tenderness but not to worry. Hope you get some answers soon, take care X

How big was your cyst if you don't mind me asking?

It was a couple of inches. They could tell it was probably a cyst because it moved when they pressed on it. It was drained in seconds and painless apart from needle but only tender for a couple of hours. They could also tell from the cyst fluid that there were no problems. Great relief x

Couple of inches is a massive cyst!

Did your boob shrunk after that?

It was on the side and was very obvious that there was a large lump there. As soon as they drained it the lump was gone . They did say that I might be prone to getting more cysts so it might not be the last to time I have to go but I would rather get it checked out than leave it xx
