Hi, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, had a cervix smear test attempted, eleven days ago. The nurse had to stop as it was excrutiatingly painful, ive had many procedures, surgeries, including eleven titanium implants drilled into my jaw bone, and never known pain like the smear. She said i have a bit of a prolapse,,im scheduled back, but im very anxious. Plus, still having mild cramp type pains, and weird sensations . Im post menopause.

I would advise a referral to a female Gynae Consultant so you can be checked out properly. I had problems for years and then bleeding whenever an exam was done up there, first Gynae said she couldn't see anything wrong and sent me packing, second private one took 5 mins to diagnose severe adhesions in front of the cervix and that was the cause of the bleeding and intense pain, now I know not to let anything near !!!!

Hi,thanks for replying. I never had any pain prior to the test, i do feel like things arent right since she did it. I was told after, due to being post menapausal, she could have used a small speculum.

You could need something like Replens Gel which is not a hormone gel but can help with vaginal dryness after the menopause. I don't need it yet but my Aunty uses it.

Thanks for the advice,i do use oestrogen cream. I think the pain though wss from the pressure of the scope, not good against a prolapse.

In that case they should have used a smaller one ... I have had lots of smears because I was on the pill and I have never experienced any pain.
